From a dream in 2001 to transforming 15,000+ lives — the LEGSO story
Every milestone in our journey represents hundreds of students guided, communities served, and lives changed for the better. Here is the story of LEGSO — told through our most meaningful moments.
Life Education Guiding Service Organization is formally registered as a charitable trust in Tenkasi, Tamil Nadu. The founder's vision: to provide free career guidance and education support to students in underserved communities. The first career guidance session is conducted for 45 students.
LEGSO conducts its first district-level education awareness camp, reaching over 500 students and parents. Partnership established with 10 local schools. The camp creates massive awareness about scholarship opportunities and government education schemes.
LEGSO formally launches its Social Service wing, expanding beyond education to address broader community needs. First health awareness camp conducted in rural areas of Tenkasi district, serving over 300 families.
LEGSO receives its first formal recognition — a regional award for outstanding community service. The trust now operates in 5 districts of Tamil Nadu. Annual beneficiary count crosses 1,000 students for the first time.
Recognising the growing importance of technology, LEGSO launches free computer literacy workshops for rural students. First batch of 200 students complete the digital skills programme. Partnership established with local colleges for programme delivery.
LEGSO celebrates 10 years of service. A decade milestone celebration is held in Tenkasi with participation from beneficiaries, partners, and local dignitaries. Cumulative beneficiary count reaches 5,000. Special achievers felicitation ceremony conducted.
A dedicated women empowerment and girl child education campaign is launched across Tenkasi and Tirunelveli districts. Vocational training programmes begin for young women from rural backgrounds. Over 800 women benefited in the first year.
LEGSO receives recognition from the Government of Tamil Nadu for its contributions to education and social service. Operations expand to 20 districts. A dedicated student counselling centre opens at the Tenkasi headquarters.
Cumulative student beneficiaries cross the 10,000 mark — a proud milestone for LEGSO. Annual programme count reaches 50+ events. Career guidance seminars conducted in over 100 schools. Introduction of competitive exam preparation workshops for NEET and JEE aspirants.
LEGSO introduces online career counselling sessions, extending its reach to students who cannot physically access the offices. Launch of the LEGSO Achievers Recognition Programme, honouring students who have excelled after receiving LEGSO guidance.
LEGSO celebrates 20 years of service with a grand event attended by over 500 former beneficiaries, donors, and dignitaries. Publication of the LEGSO Impact Report. Launch of the first batch of the LEGSO Merit Scholarship for deserving students.
LEGSO marks 23 years of dedicated service with 15,000+ cumulative beneficiaries, operations spanning 50+ districts, and 500+ programmes conducted. A new website launched to extend digital presence. Future plans include a dedicated LEGSO Career Guidance Centre and expanded digital outreach.
As we move forward, LEGSO is committed to expanding its reach, enhancing its impact, and embracing technology to serve more students and communities across Tamil Nadu and beyond.
